About Magali Sanchez-Hall
Magali has lived a journey defined by resilience, faith, and purpose. Arriving in the United States as an undocumented immigrant and raising three young children on her own, she faced the harsh realities of domestic violence, poverty, and the uncertainty of her immigration status. Despite these hardships, Magali refused to give up. With the support of her church community and the protections afforded under the Violence Against Women Act, she secured legal residency and began rebuilding her life with courage and determination.
Faith was the foundation that helped Magali move forward. Guided by her Lutheran church and mentors who recognized her light and potential, she embraced education as a path to empowerment. She earned her GED, went on to graduate from UCLA with a Bachelor’s degree in Chicana/o Studies, and later achieved a Master’s in Public Policy. Along the way, she became not only a survivor, but a scholar, advocate, and leader.
Professionally, Magali has dedicated her career to advancing equity and opportunity. She has worked on workforce development initiatives, environmental justice projects, and policies to expand access for underserved communities. Her leadership has always been grounded in the same principles that carried her through her most difficult times: compassion, service, and the belief that every person deserves dignity and opportunity.
Magali is now ready to bring her lived experience and policy expertise to the California State Assembly. She knows firsthand the struggles working families face, because she has lived them. She also knows how to turn challenges into solutions, building coalitions and driving change at the local and state levels. In Sacramento, Magali will fight for safer communities, stronger schools, environmental protections, and an economy that works for everyone.
Her life is proof that resilience, faith, and community can transform hardship into hope—and she is prepared to bring that same determination to represent and uplift her district in the Assembly.

Safe and Healthy Communities
Magali’s own survival story as a domestic violence survivor drives her fight for safer communities. She knows firsthand how critical it is to have access to shelters, legal support, and people who will stand by you in times of crisis. In the Assembly, she will expand protections for survivors, strengthen mental health services, and invest in community-based programs that give families the tools to heal and thrive.
Strong Schools & Pathways
From earning her GED as a single mother to graduating from UCLA with a Master’s in Public Policy, Magali has lived the transformative power of education. She will fight to fully fund local schools, support teachers, and expand after-school programs so every child has the same chance she gave her own. Magali will also champion workforce training and apprenticeship programs that create clear pathways into good-paying jobs, ensuring families don’t just get by—they get ahead.
Environmental Justice & Clean Air
Living in Wilmington, one of California’s most polluted communities, Magali has seen how environmental injustice directly harms families. She has dedicated her career to advancing environmental justice and green jobs, and in the Assembly, she will hold polluters accountable, push for investments in clean energy, and deliver resources to frontline communities like her own. For Magali, clean air and safe neighborhoods are not luxuries—they are rights every family deserves.
Economic Fairness & Opportunity
Magali knows the struggles of working families because she has lived them—balancing multiple jobs, raising children on her own, and fighting for stability. She believes in an economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy few. In the Assembly, she will champion higher wages, stronger worker protections, more affordable housing, and support for small businesses. Magali’s focus is simple: building a district where families can find stability, dignity, and opportunity.
